St John Ambulance in Western Region consist of 4 counties across the former Western Province of Kenya namely; Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga and Busia.

The organization serves the sick and the vulnerable, making sure communities are equipped with first aid skills and prepared to handle disasters.

The Western Region was established in 1993 as Kakamega Area with its core activities through the years involving, a range of disaster preparedness related trainings, ambulance event and rescue services and community health.

The regional activities are supported by staff and 1,582 volunteer members who are relied upon to offer emergency rescue and community health programmes

Some of the current initiatives include Busia County Pre – Hospital Emergency Ambulances Services to increase access to maternal healthcare in remote areas and Highway Rescue Centers to provide prompt medical help to accident victims at black spot areas.

In addition, there are suitable programs that nurture the skills of Badgers(members age 7 – 12years), Cadets(13 – 17years) and Young People to become caring and responsible citizens.

The Regional Head Office coordinates all the activities across Western through four County branches located in Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia.

The Regional Head office is located within Kakamega County General Hospital, behind the Kakamega County Blood Satellite and next to Afya Sacco Bank (FOSA).
