At the Kenyan coast, bordering Indian Ocean is the Coast Region with more than 4,000 volunteer members consisting of six doctors, 18 nurses, over 1500 adult first res-ponders, while the rest are cadets and badgers in school.

The region’s main office block has recently undergone a major face-lift that has seen the facility raised to two more storeys to accommodate extra training rooms and youth resource centers.

With its vastly skilled personnel, the region has been beneficial in sharing the expertise in building the emergency healthcare capacity of the county governments in the area. Many workers, security officers and residents have also acquired helpful first aid and emergency medical skills from the training services offered.

Besides first aid training and competition for its members, the region also organizes competitions to enhance and test the skills of police officers in giving first aid at crime and accident scenes each year.

Other key annual activities they are involved in include airport drill at the Mombasa International Airport which tests the readiness in dealing with all forms of possible disasters at the airport.

The regional branch also acts as one of the exclusive safety partner during annual Mater Heart Run which raises funds to support cardiac treatments.
