Uniformed Volunteers
Mirroring St John worldwide, uniformed St John volunteers in Kenya have a well defined rank structure, starting from the member all the way to the Chief Commissioner, who is the senior most uniformed volunteer. He is responsible to the Chairman of the National Council for the general organization, administration, efficiency and discipline of the volunteers. The Chief Commissioner appoints all the Commissioned Officers of St John in Kenya.
The current Chief Commissioner is Mr. Eliakim M. Masale, MBS.
The Commissioner for Kenya is Mr. Thomas Odhiambo, OGW
The Regional Commissioners are Mrs. Josephine Mwangi (Central); Hudson Kere (Coast); John Mathogora (Eastern); Stephen Kagombe (KPA); George Muigai (Ag. Nairobi); Elisha Guya, HSC (Nyanza); Stephen Churu (Railways); Col. Samuel Mutuku, KA (Rtd), EBS (Rift Valley) and Alex Ouma (Western).
At both the national and regional levels, there are deputy and assistant commissioners as well as staff officers appointed for specific functions such as training, operations, cadets etc. There are also medical personel at every level of the structure, starting with the Chief Surgeon (Prof. K Bhatt) and the Chief Nursing Officer (Prof. Anne Karani).
