Each Region has a Regional Council that provides management oversight, as well as a Regional Commissioner (In charge of the volunteers) and a Regional Executive Officer (In charge of the Regional Headquarters and secretary to the Regional Council). The Chairman of the Regional Council is a member of the National Council.
The Regions also have a Regional Brigade Committee that comprises senior officers in the Region and is chaired by either the Regional Commissioner or his deputy.
The nine Regions are: Central, Coast, Eastern, Nairobi, Nyanza, Rift Valley, Western, Kenya Railways and Kenya Ports Authority. Plans are at an advanced stage to establish the North Eastern Region, with headqurters in Garissa.
Corps
Within each Region, the volunteers are divided into smaller units called Corps. A region may have three or more Corps comprising several Divisions as provided for in the General Regulations. A Corp is headed by a Corp Superintendent, who reports to the Regional Commissioner.
Divisions
A Division is the smallest unit of St John. The Divisions, headed by Divisional Superintendents, are grouped in Corps. The DS reports to the Corp Superintendent. (Note: Within the Badger Movement, the Divisions are referred to as Badger Setts, while in tertiary institutions, they are known as Links)
