Over 17,000 Reached In Medical Camps

Over 17,000 people received medical attention and food supplies in various areas of the country as St John Kenya wrapped up a successful drive across the country. Supported by our German sister organization, The Johaniter Uinfall, the outreach was targeted at some of the worst affected areas by droughts that raveged the country towards the end of 2009.
Starting from Kipsarmani in Baringo, Rift Valley, the medical camps transversed four regions, benefitting residents in Central, Eastern, Coast and Rift Valley provinces. From Baringo, the camps headed to Laikipia, then to the Coast where Taita, Kilifi and Kwale will be covered.
The last round in early January saw residents of Eastern province benefit including Kitui, Kibwezi and finally the far-flung Isiolo. In the latter, the medical camp coincided with the opening of the new Isiolo office for St John Kenya, set to serve the residents of Upper Eastern region.
The outreaches involved all the St John Kenya Secretariat staff as well as hundreds of volunteers from the various regions.
