Chief Commissioner Visits Nairobi

The Chief Commissioner, Mr. Eliakim M. Masale, MBS, made his maiden official visit to Nairobi Region on Saturday, 19th September 2009. The long-awaited visit was a high point on the calendar for the Region, and was quite celebratory as a result.

Accompanied by the NSO - Administration, Mr. Omar Jasho (himself a former Regional Commissioner for Nairobi), the new Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Selina Kibogy Kandie and officers from the Region, the Chief Commissioner conducted various activies for close to four hours.

Mr. Masale's first stop was at the Kangemi Rescue Centre, where he met volunteers from Kangemi Division who run the blackspot-placed centre. He then went back to the HQs where he was introduced to various officers of the Region, before visiting City 17 Division. He viewed an excellently executed drill display by Kayole Cadet Division and finished it up with a plenary meeting with all the Regional Officers and the Regional Council Chairman, Mr. Albert Ruturi.

In his remarks, the Chief Commissioner lauded the good work that the Region is doing and stressed the importance of Nairobi's activities to the success of St. John Kenya. He also urged the members and officers to ensure that discipline, which is the cornerstone of volunteer activities, be maintained at the highest levels. He pledged support for various initiatives by the Region, as did the CEO.
