Donate Blood!
Blood donation is one of the most direct ways to impact someone’s life; your donations truly make a difference in the lives of many Kenyans.
An average adult between the age of 16-65years, in good health and weigh over 50kg is fit to donate blood ,however one can still donate blood after 65years if certified medically fit.
Donating is entirely safe and confidential. Adults have between 5-6 litres of blood in their body and after donating, the body replaces lost fluid within a matter of hours and cellular content within 2-3 weeks. In fact, when giving blood, the only thing you’ll feel is good about yourself.
The whole process is extremely quick and easy. The donation will take between 4 and 11 minutes, after which blood will be taken away for testing. Blood donated is used to treat anaemia in children, mothers during pregnancy and child birth. It also assists victims of accident, disasters and many more.
Each donation made will automatically help us meet our goal more quickly. As a nation, we need to collect 320,000 pints of blood before the end of the year. So please continue to donate blood!
You can book your own blood donation appointment, or ask questions about your donation eligibility, by calling 020-340 262 or email: bloodsafety@stjohnkenya.org.
After a short rest we will provide refreshments and a big thank you for your commitment to making a difference in your community through blood donation!
Blood Donation is Beneficial to Corporate Sponsor!
As a corporate sponsor you can mobilize employees as donors; and provide resources towards implementation of the blood donation camp (cash or in-kind) e.g. T-shirts, pens, caps, etc. to attract blood donors. Your participation will give your organization several opportunities e.g.
- Publicity of the drive improves the organization’s profile, branding opportunities and product image enhancement resulting in increased sales, and the likelihood of a significant amount of positive exposure.
- Association with St John Ambulance, a credible non - profit organization committed to saving the lives of Kenyans during accidents and disasters, and other reputable partners.
- Involvement in long term visible corporate social responsibility activity.
- Opportunity to contribute towards alleviating perennial blood shortages.
