HIV/AIDS and Community Health

Objectives

  • To maintain our position as the leading service provider in health and safety.
  • To support all National efforts in reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS, mitigate its impact and promote community health.

Our young volunteers organize Clean up campaigns regularly as well as visits to children’s homes and homes for the elderly.

Our volunteer Doctors and Nurses conduct health education sessions and medical camps.

Activities

  •  Training St John First Aiders in prevention and management of HIV/AIDS.
  • Establishment of VCT Centres.
  • Training Peer Educators.
  • Home Based Care training and services at the grassroots level.
  • Training parents in guidance and counselling for children and youth.   
  • Community Health Education.
  • Medical Camps.

St. John has the following trained volunteers: -

  • Peer Education Trainers                                 -     60

The Community Health Workers are providing Home Based Care services to 3,058 persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in various parts of Kenya.

OUR VCT SERVICES

Trust our VCT Centre for information, confidentiality, reliable testing and dignity.  We offer full VCT services and referrals to individuals and groups.

Open Monday to Friday from 8.00a.m. to 5.00 p.m.  Arrangements can be made for those wishing to access our services on Saturdays.

Our VCT Services are voluntary and strictly confidential.

We have a Post Test Club.
